Character Name: Link
Series: Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Timeframe: One Year Post-Skyward Sword
Background:
Link grew up on Skyloft with his best friend Zelda, attending the Knight Academy like most of the kids his age. When he was roughly sixteen to seventeen Link went became a Senior in the Academy, passing his graduation test with flying colors and getting to spend a moment atop the Goddess statue alone with Zelda, where she gifted him his sailcloth.
It was as he and Zelda took to the sky to celebrate Link overcoming the competition that Zelda was kidnapped by a tornado and Link started onto a fated journey with his sword-companion Fi to a place known as 'The Surface'. Fi claimed that Zelda was alive, and Link was destined to head beneath the clouds and help her on a Divine journey.
Link battled monsters, had his spirit tested, went through temples and dungeons abandoned upon a surface world for thousands of years, fought the strangely touchy-feely and completely disturbing Demon Lord Ghirahim, the Demon King Demise, learned that his best friend was a goddess made human, traveled through time, and held at one point the full power of the Tri-Force.
At the end of it all Zelda and Link both reunited land and sky together. Link began a life on the Surface with Zelda at her request. Several other Skyloftians decided to permanently move to the surface as well, and soon a thriving but small community began to grow out of the Faron Woods.
A year later and Link spends his days helping settlers to the Surface World adjust to their new life, and setting up the beginnings of a Kingdom for Zelda.
Personality:
He's honestly rather lazy. Link would prefer to lounge back and watch the clouds but he has a strong sense of duty too. If you put his friends in danger he'll go through thick and thin to help them out, fated or not. He's a sarcastic little shit when he really wants to be, and generally an all around dork otherwise. He does have a temper, but it's rare for his temper to get pulled up. You have to remind him of someone like Ghirahim for him to even begin to get close to losing it. At this moment in time Link is rather done with everything and while he might enjoy adventure, is very reluctant to begin another one. He digs his feet in when he's reluctant.
Appearance: http://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/181232-header.jpg
Abilities:
Aside from being rather skilled in all of his weapons and a shield, and a very adept flier upon a Loftwing, and supposedly talented musician, Link doesn't really have any additional abilities except a rather hard head.
Items:
Adventure Pouches with a Bottle, Tough Beetle, Bombs, Sacred Bow, Big Bug Net, Clawshots, Mogma Mitts, Gust Bellows, Goddess's Harp, Sailcloth, Scattershot, and Whip. A Standard Knight Sword and Hylian Shield, Water Dragon Scale and Firesheild Earings.
-- Because Link somehow is able to carry around all of these items of various size in a small set of bags on his hips I'm willing to drop this if Mods prefer to just his Adventure Pouches holding a Bottle, Big Bug Net, Scattershot, Whip, Sailcloth and Goddess's Harp, and with him having his standard sword and shield, earrings, and the water scale.
I'm also willing, as the scale and earrings are technically magical items, to remove their abilities.
The Firesheild Earrings prevent Link's clothes from catching fire allowing him to explore volcanic areas of extreme heat.
The Water Dragon's Scale allows Link to swim under water like he was a fish, but Link still requires oxygen.
Preferred Quarters: None
Third Person Sample:
Link tilted his head up towards the sky with a smile on his face. The feel of the wind brushing his face as his Loftwing coasted above the clouds was the best. Especially when it was just him and his Loftwing in the air and nothing else, allowing for in that moment peace.
About the only thing Link wanted these days was peace or the little bit of it he could get, here in the clouds.
He was shirking his duties. He knew that, logically, and Zelda would probably berate him something fierce if she didn't get annoyed enough to come up and find him in the sky. He should be on the Surface, helping Skyloftians get used to a whole new style of life. He had houses to help them build and temples to seal off and any number of duties.
Link frowned, that little bit of peace pulling away from him at the reminder of duty. He'd been working non-stop since Zelda had been kidnapped, racing between the Surface and Skyloft. He'd been fighting, and bleeding, and dying for what felt like decades now. He'd had his soul tested and that, that wasn't fun.
More than that, though, he'd lost a dear friend. Link blinked open his eyes and reached back to touch the hilt of his standard Knight's Blade. It's grip was firm, well crafted, and was easy to grasp but it didn't mold to his hand like the Master Sword did. It didn't house a spirit named Fi, either, who despite her cold, clinical analytical nature had been the closest thing to constant human contact he'd had while on the Surface. She'd been the whisper in his ear for the longest time, the one person that he'd told his worries to as he camped beneath the clouds on that sometimes ridiculous journey.
And now she was gone, asleep. Link let go of the blade and blinked open his eyes. His lips pressed firm and with a gentle shift of his body he aimed his Loftwing back down toward the Surface with a sigh. He wasted enough daylight seeking peace, it was time to get back to work.
First Person Sample:
[He rubbed at his head as he sat up, face set into a grimace. He looks like he'd just woken up from a nap, or tumbled out of a tree with twigs in his hair and his hat and top askew.]
Goddess above did you get the name of that tornado, Fi?
[It took him a minute to remember Fi wasn't there anymore, like it has taken him for the past year when he sometimes catches himself talking to her. His grimace deepened as he pulled himself to his feet.]
Right. What kind of goddess-forsaken nonsense have you gotten yourself into this time...and can you get home by dinner? Because Zelda will not hesitate to hit you with the spoon, again, if you're late.
...and knowing my luck, I'm going to be late.
[He's confused, his brow furrowed and his lips pressed thin as he turned in a circle to get a good look at his location. He sighed, face pinching into annoyance.]
Yeah. Late...
[He groaned and slumped his shoulders, looking rather defeated for a second. He's mumbling and his voice has the faintest hint of a whine to it.]
....Zelda's gonna kill me....
[Annoyed, tired, and entirely lost Link began to trudge in a random direction.]
